Dimear Caraballo was charged with murder and weapons offenses, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.
On Monday, Jan. 23, Camden County police received a ShotSpotter activation for gunfire at 8:21 a.m. on the 1100 block of Lansdowne Avenue in Camden.
Police found a male victim, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Mustapha Gbassa, 35, of Camden. Gbassa was transported to Virtua Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department, Caraballo was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 24, by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and charged for the fatal shooting of Gbassa.
Caraballo was being held in the Camden County Correctional Facility.
